Ed Bun already has ideas regarding Injustice 3
According to the director of Netherrealm Studios Ed Bun, he already has ideas about how he would like to see Injustice 3. However, now Netherrealm is busy preparing for the release of Mortal Kombat 1, so those who hope for Injustice 3 need to wait a bit again. Fortunately, Bun himself has repeatedly stated that Netherrealm wants to ever return to the Injustice series, and when this will happen, he, apparently, already knows what the next fighting game for DC will be.
In a conversation with Comicbook.COM during a recent event dedicated to the release of Mortal Kombat 1, Bun said that ideas for Injustice 3 appeared during the development of Injustice 2. What exactly can be ideas related to Injustice 3, Bun did not say, but said that he has a document that contains many concepts of the game, as well as other elements that he would like to study in more detail.
I can’t say about others, but I always have a block file with ideas like: "Oh, we could do this, we could do that". When we worked on Injustice 2, I have already begun to design Injustice 3. There is always a list of ideas and concepts where there is this and that. So such a file definitely exists.
If Injustice 3 will become the next game that Netherrealm plans to release after Mortal Kombat 1, then most likely this will not happen soon. Netherrealm herself has already made it clear that, most likely, MK1 support will take her much more time, unlike MK11, where updates and additional content have been released over more than two years. Based on this, the new Injustice may be released no earlier than 2025 or 2026.
Nevertheless, it is very pleasant to realize that Boon has nurtured the basic ideas of Injustice 3 for more than six years. I would like to hope that in the end these ideas will still see the light. And in general, the fact that Ed Bun thinks about the continuation of the game is generally pleasing. Or at least accumulates ideas for him. But how many of these ideas will enter the game? Time will show.
